What led me to work with animals is my love and passion for them. Since my childhood, we have always had a pet at home, and it was always important for me to have a little companion. What I love most about my job is being able to provide comfort and care to my little patients. I began my career at the Montreal SPCA clinic, where I worked as a technician. I took care of sick animals. It was such a rewarding job when the little patients recovered from their illness and were able to return home healthy. I then worked with laboratory animals such as rabbits, rats, mice, guinea pigs, and pigs (to name a few). I looked after their care, enriched their environment, and made sure they were comfortable. But I returned to work in a clinic because I missed the human aspect. I also missed working with people who share my compassion and dedication toward animals. Working in this field is like having a second family, and in my opinion, it’s essential. Despite the emotions we share every day with our clients and colleagues — joy, worry, anger, or sadness — there is no other profession as rewarding, interesting, and fulfilling.
