Vaccinations for Kittens and Cats

Contact our team to creat a vaccination plan for your feline friend.

Vaccination forms the basis for all preventive veterinary medicine. An animal that is vaccinated is much less likely to contract many different diseases that may be very harmful or even fatal. Whether old or young, your pet will benefit hugely from a program of regular, complete vaccinations.

What vaccinations are available for cats?

We offer RCP vaccination, which protects cats from feline viral rhinotracheitis, feline calicivirus and feline panleukopenia (cat flu / feline distemper). We also offer vaccines against rabies and feline leukemia virus.

How often should my kitten be vaccinated?

When kittens are born, they benefit from their mother’s antibodies. The effects of these antibodies tend to fade at around 6 weeks of age. That’s why we recommend giving them their first vaccination between 6 and 8 weeks old. Kittens should then have booster shots every 4 weeks until the age of 16 weeks to ensure sufficient immunization.

How often should my adult cat be vaccinated?

Once the kitten vaccination protocol is complete, we recommend a booster at the age of 1 year. After that, the frequency of vaccination will depend on the type of vaccine you choose. Some vaccines are administered annually, while others may be every 2 or 3 years. Talk to your vet to find out how often your cat needs to be vaccinated.

Does my indoor cat need to be vaccinated?

For indoor cats, we generally recommend the core RCP vaccination as well as the rabies vaccine. Be sure the talk to your vet if you have any questions about which vaccination protocol to choose for your indoor cat.
