Nutritional Advice

Optimize your pet's diet with professional advice.

Nutrition plays an essential role in the health of your pet. Like humans, cats and dogs all have different nutritional needs and it’s important to choose food that is adapted to those requirements. At the Hôpital Vétérinaire St-Lambert, we know that, given the overwhelming variety of foods available on the market, making the right choice for your pet can be difficult. That’s why we offer nutritional advice services to all our clients.

What factors should I consider when choosing food for my pet?

First, it’s important to take certain factors into consideration, such as your pet’s age, weight, breed, health, level of activity and so on. These criteria will help to narrow down the type of food that’s best for your pet. Other factors, such as allergies, habits, lifestyle, and food preferences, may also enter into the equation.

Why is it important to adapt my pet’s diet to their age?

Your pet’s nutritional needs will change over time. When your pet is very young, their bones will still be developing, and they will need certain nutrients to help them grow strong and healthy. When your pet is older and considered a senior or geriatric, their diet should be optimized to counter the changes that come with age. The nutritional needs of older animals are not the same as when they were younger and more active. Their diet must be adapted to suit their new, slower pace of life.
